These Engravings Match Your Face to Animals

How much of that animal-face trick is still running in the modern eye?

Old prints claimed they could read a person by lining their face up with a beast. Physiognomy dressed up as natural history.

We put the engravings back in front of a camera and ask the only question that still matters: how much of that trick is still running in the modern eye? The series is not interested in dunking on the past. It is interested in the part of seeing that never got the memo that the science was fake.

If a line can make you into a wolf, the line is doing work. That is the experiment.
